Summer Feeding Programs
The summer feeding programs were established to ensure that children in lower-income areas would continue to receive nutritious meals during long school vacations, when they do not have access to school lunch or breakfast.
The Food and Nutrition Service, an agency of the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), administers the summer feeding program at the federal level. Locally, it is operated by sponsors who apply for and are approved to operate the program. Washington State currently administers the Simplified Summer Food Program (SSFP) and the Seamless Summer Feeding Program (SP).
Resources: WithinReach allows you to search for summer feeding sites in your neighborhood by zip code.
