Volunteer Program Assistant (Kent)
Position Title: Volunteer Program Assistant
Normal Work Week: Monday through Friday
Normal Work Hours: 8am – 5pm
This is a temporary, six month position and is part of the Community Affairs department, led by the Director, Community Affairs. The Volunteer Manager is the immediate supervisor for this position. This position supports the Volunteer Manager, Cherry Street Food Bank Volunteer Coordinator and the Director, Community Affairs in all volunteer based activities as needed, including but not limited to the following responsibilities:
General:
-Answers calls from potential and current volunteers.
-Enters volunteer information into the Raisers Edge database.
-Tracks RSVPs for all volunteer related events.
-Maintains volunteer program files.
-Assists with tracking and replying to Volunteer Program applications.
-Assists with monthly reporting requirements.
-Assist with mailings as needed.
-Assists with the development of training materials.
-Schedules volunteers for opportunities at Kent and Cherry Street or for special events.
Random Acts of Appreciation:
-Assists with creating certificates.
-Assists with tracking the RA calendar.
Coffee with the Directors:
-Assists with RSVPs, arrangements, food and drinks.
Events:
-Assist Volunteer Manager with volunteer orientations, sign-in and sign-out.
Volunteer Orientations:
-Welcome new volunteers and assist with their orientations when the Volunteer Manager or Coordinator is not available.
Other:
-Other duties as assigned by the Volunteer Manager and/or the Director, Community Affairs.
Required Skills:
-Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
-Excellent communication and people skills.
-Strong computer skills.
-Ability to work effectively as part of a results-oriented Community Affairs team.
-Ability to multitask, work in fluid, dynamic, fast paced environment and prioritize.
-Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Publisher and Power Point.
-Ability to work occasional weekends and evenings as required.
-Raisers Edge or other non profit software.
-Belief in our mission and the work we do to serve our neighbors in need of food.
Non-profit and volunteer management experience is a plus. Candidate must have own vehicle and valid Washington State Driver’s License.
