The proposed rule will do the following: Take SNAP assistance from 175,600 Washingtonians Render 500,000 school children (between 15,663 to 17,000 kids in Washington) no longer eligible for free school meals Force working families with children, seniors, and people with disabilities that are struggling to get by on limited or fixed incomes to face deeper hunger in order to pay the rent, utility bills, childcare, and other necessities Cost Washington State more than $43 million in local jobs and business revenue each year Overwhelm the charitable, hunger relief network when these households no longer have SNAP to help them buy food from local grocers, farmers markets, or farm stands.
