The 2024 Election and Our Path Forward

The presidential election results remind us that the path to systemic change requires sustained commitment and collective action. At Northwest Harvest, our response to this moment is simple: we keep going. We continue our work to ensure everyone in Washington has access to nutritious food while confronting the root causes of hunger and food insecurity.

Our vision of ending hunger in Washington state transcends election cycles. Whether supporting our network of 350+ food banks and meal programs, advocating for the Right to Food, or amplifying community voices for change, our mission remains constant. We know that 1 in 10 Washingtonians experience food insecurity—disproportionately impacting BIPOC communities, households with children, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. This reality demands our continued action and unwavering focus.

In times of uncertainty, we lean into our values:

  • Purpose-driven in our pursuit of food justice
  • Anti-racist in our approach to systemic change
  • Connected across our organization to maximize our impact
  • Interwoven with those most impacted by food insecurity

We recognize that many in our community may feel concerned about the future. Know that Northwest Harvest stands firm in our commitment to building a more just and equitable food system. We will continue breaking molds, challenging the status quo, and working alongside our communities to create lasting change.

The path forward is clear: together, we grow food justice through collective action.
